The universe seems to be conspiring against the production of Peter Jackson’s ‘Hobbit’. Between studio money issues, licensing issues labor disputes and now this, it seems like there is always something out there to keep these films from getting made.

Last night, Peter Jackson was admitted to a hospital in Wellington, New Zealand where he underwent surgery for a perforated ulcer. Word is that he’s doing fine now and resting comfortably.

The production company had this to say:

“Sir Peter’s surgery is not expected to impact on his directing commitment to The Hobbit beyond a slight delay to the start of filming.”
