After two films and a couple of very successful animated series, the How To Train Your Dragon franchise is finally getting its third film. Today, Variety announced that the film would be called ‘How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.’ In the new film, we’ll join Hiccup as the chief of his village and his pal Toothless in a search for his mate.
It looks like we’ll get our first trailer for the film, or at least some people will be shown some footage, when Dreamworks makes a presentation at the Annecy Animation Festival on June, 14th. The film is set for a US release on March 1, 2019.
Along with the film’s title, we’ve also been treated to the first synopsis:
As Hiccup fulfills his dream of creating a peaceful dragon utopia, Toothless’ discovery of an untamed, elusive mate draws the Night Fury away. When danger mounts at home and Hiccup’s reign as village chief is tested, both dragon and rider must make impossible decisions to save their kind.
