If you got a feeling of deja vu while you were watching the latest trailer for Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse, you aren’t alone. In today’s episode of the John Campea movie podcast, someone pointed out that Peter Parker’s opening monologue and scenes from the new trailer seemed to mirror the events of the Sam Raimi/ Tobey Maguire Spider-Man films.
When you go back and look it over, it seems almost too perfect to be a coincidence. So, that begs the question, is the Jake Johnson Peter Parker that we meet in Into The Spider-Verse, a web crawler that we’ve never met before? OR, is he the fully-grown version of the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man? The only thing keeping us from believing this is 100% the case is the fact that they probably could have just gotten Tobey Maguire to do the voice if that was their plan. Check out these screenshots and the trailer and tell us what you think!
