**Several sources have now officially confirmed this to be true.
The Wrap is reporting that director James Gunn will return to write and direct the sequel to Marvel’s upcoming tentpole “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
This was confirmed by Gunn’s writing partner Nicole Perlman:
“They started to figure it out pretty quick when they started getting the reactions from the audience; it was a very positive reaction Of course they would want to make a sequel as long as it does well and people are excited about it, they’ll wanna do a sequel. So, it’s going to happen. James will be directing ‘Guardians 2,’ so he would also be writing ‘Guardians 2.’”
This is interesting because Marvel Studios has not officially announced a sequel, while at the same time Marvel has no denied or confirmed this story. Perhaps they’re merely waiting to see how the film performs before officially committing to the sequel. Never the less, with the efforts Marvel have put into this space opera franchise, one can only safely assuming a sequel is inevitable. Guess we’ll all find out tomorrow!!
