Star Wars Episode VIII has resumed production and we are anxiously awaiting the answers to all of the questions left burning in our minds after the events of The Force Awakens. While we shouldn’t expect any actual details to come through official channels until at least a week after the movie’s release in 2017, John Boyega (Finn) is more than happy to give us a little tease on what we can expect.
First, on the tone of the film, here’s what he said to Vogue:
“[We’re] just starting work on ‘Star Wars VIII,’ the next film, so I’m back to keeping secrets again,” Boyega said. “It’s great. Much darker, but we’re very excited.”
One of the biggest questions about the next film is about the current state of Finn. When we last saw him, he was laying unconscious on a medical bed after getting a lightsaber slashed along the length of his spine by Kylo Ren. Does this mean he’ll be in a wheelchair for the next film, or that he’ll possibly have some sort of cybernetic enhancement reinforcement on his back? Boyega isn’t saying either way, but he is teasing that we will be seeing him doing a lot of action scenes.
“No, for [Force Awakens] we really just took it scene by scene, there wasn’t a huge regime,” Boyega continues. “My part in the next film will be much more physical so I might be in the gym a bit more.
One thing is for sure, Captain Phasma is going to be looking for some major retribution against her wayward trooper in the next film.
Star Wars: Episode VIII opens May 26, 2017.
