I loved John Wick, and I liked the sequel, but I was always disappointed that they didn’t make a spin-off film about The Continental, the hotel for assassins from the film universe. Thankfully, someone had a similar idea and the the concept is now set as a new series on the Starz Network.
While we have not yet heard if Lance Reddick, the actor who played the concierge (Charron) from both John Wick films would be taking a role in the show, we do know that the show has an excellent creative team behind it including Chris Collins (The Wire/ Man in the High Castle) as writer and showrunner, and Basil Iwanyk, John Wick co-director and John Wick: Chapter 2 director Chad Stahelski, along with the franchise’s screenwriter Derek Kolstad, will all serve as executive producers for the show.
Stahelski, who also directed Deadpool 2 is set to direct the pilot episode and there are rumors that Keanu Reeves may make a cameo. The show is promising high action with major fight scenes and gun battles between assassins and their targets. While we know the show will be tied to the world of John Wick, we don’t know if the events will take place before or after the films, or whether we are looking at an ongoing storyline or a series of “tales from the Continental”.
