I’m not sure if this should be filed under entertainment or WTF.

I was kind of hoping that this movie died. We hadn’t heard anything about it for a while and there’s just nothing about it that sounds right. I’ve heard everyone from Jim Carrey to Bruce Willis attached to the role of Moe in the Farrelly Brothers Three Stooges adaptation, but no one has ever been able to explain why it is even getting made.

I understand that the brothers loved the Stooges. Most people do. I can even understand wanting to honor them in some form or fashion… but come on. leave well enough alone. No one says, man, I grew up loving the hell out of peanut butter cups. I love them so much that I’m going to make new ones, but just to put my own stamp on them… I’m going to add mustard.

That brings us to Johnny Knoxville. I supposed that if anyone has the stamina to stand up to the brutal slapstick of the Stooges, it would probably be him… but come on… just don’t make the movie.

Despite what a lot of people have thought about the movie, this isn’t a biopic or some weird modern version. Their goal is to actually just make new Stooges sketches according to the brothers.

“This isn’t a Farrelly version of The Three Stooges. This is The Three Stooges. And, it’s not a biopic, by the way. We’ve written three new episodes. The movie is actually three episodes that go back to back to back. Each one picks up where the other one left off. We want you to look at it and say, ‘It’s Moe, Larry and Curly!,’ so we have very high standards on this route.”

Honestly, I can’t say that this makes me feel any better about the project.

On a side note… am I still the only person who thought ‘Outside providence’ was their best movie?
