No one would have expected that Todd Phillips’ The Joker would have become as big of a hit as it did, let alone earn over a billion dollars and become the highest-grossing R-Rated film of all time. Despite plans to have the film be a one-off, there’s no way that Warner Bros was going to let the chance capture lightning in a bottle again pass them by, especially if they could bring back Joaquin Phoenix and add in extra talent like Lady Gaga.
Last night, the first trailer for the musical sequel, Joker: Folie a Deaux dropped we got our first look at the film. While the energy is different from the original, it still feels like it has the same DNA. In a lot of ways, we’re more intrigued by what Harley Quinn will bring to the story than we were in just seeing the Joker the first time around. Check out the trailer below, and mark your calendars for the film’s release on October 4th.
