Peter Pan is one of those classic stories that everyone either loves from the J.M. Barrie novel or the classic Disney film. Unfortunately, nearly every attempt to go back to the well of that franchise has been a miserable failure. The only real exception would have to be the Disney animated series, Jake And the Neverland Pirates. Even Steven Spielberg’s Hook starring Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman was considered a critical and financial failure at the time. It is really only it’s cult value that has now elevated it for the fans who grew up with it.

In a new report from THR we are now getting word about Disney’s latest attempt to bring Peter Pan back in the film ‘Peter Pan and Wendy.’ The film is being directed by ‘Pete’s Dragon’ live-action remake director, David Lowery,  who also co-wrote the script with Toby Halbrooks.

While things are still pretty early on the movie’s development, it’s not like anyone is making any movies yet, THR did announce that Disney had landed Jude Law for the role of Captain Hook. Law has been stacking up franchises as of late. He not only featured prominently in the Marvel/Disney Captain Marvel film, but he also plays a young Albus Dumbledore in Warner Bros Harry Potter spin-off Franchise, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.’

As Captain Hook, Law joins Ever Anderson and Alexander Molony who have been cast to play Wendy and Peter respectively. We’ll have more news for you as it comes out. In the meantime, Jude Law is currently in pre-production to reprise his role as Dr. Watson in the third installment of the Robert Downey Jr. Led Sherlock Holmes franchise.
