Variety reports that Keanu Reeves is set to star in Universal Pictures’ epic period piece, 47 Ronin, which is based on the Japanese tale regarding 47 Ronin who sought revenge after the death of their master. As the tale goes, many Ronin literally gave their lives and performed seppuka, ritual suicide, in the final end.
Currently a director has yet to be named and the movie will not begin filming till next year. In the meantime, check out the trailer to the 1994 Japanese movie based on this legendary tale.
