Part of me worries that this might be the preachiest movie ever made, but the other part of me is just happy he’s no longer trying to make an Americanized remake of Akira. Actor/ Eco Warrior/ Private plane enthusiast Leonardo DiCaprio is in talks to get the movie rights to the 1990’s Ted Turner created cartoon about an Earth-saving super hero that can be summoned when the rings of 5 children are brought together.
The deal would be for DiCaprio’s Appian Way production company, along with Glen Powell and his ‘Scream Queens’ star and writing partner Jono Matt, who will write the screenplay for Paramount.
With DiCaprio on hand to produce the film, you can almost guarantee that the film will be preachy as hell. I wonder if all the merch will be made from recycled plastic?
