Sony Pictures is planning on rebooting Paul Verhoeven’s 1997 movie adaptation of “Starship Troopers.” Neal Moritz will produce while Edward Miller and Zack Stentz (X-Men: First Class, Thor, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and Fringe) will pen the script.
I’m not sure if this is terrible news or horrible news. But I suppose if I had to be optimistic about it, it should be interesting to see how closely the reboot sticks with the original source material. But in all honesty, I still haven’t had the chance to wash the taste of the last “Starship Trooper” movie from 2008 out of my mouth.
While I loved the original that had Casper Van Dien and even Neil Patrick Harris, I’ll only be okay with the reboot if it stays close to the original material, otherwise what’s the point of rebooting it right?
