Live-Action Tetsujin 28-Go Movie Being Developed

Anime News Network is reporting that acclaimed Japanese director Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, The Sky Crawlers) is set to direct a live-action version of the cult classic Tetsujin 28-go manga!

Published in 1956, Tetsujin 28-go is written and illustrated by Mitsuteru Yokoyama, who also created Giant Robo. Tetsujin 28-go is one of the more popular and respected mangas in Japan which tells the story of a giant remote controlled robot named Tetsuhin 28. The series centers around the adventures of its handler, Shotaro Kaneda.

Imagi Animation which brought us “TMNT” and “Astro Boy” is developing the Tetsuhin 28-go film.
