Fan fiction writers have already written volumes on the possible love between Finn and Poe Demeron. Now it looks like that love might move from fantasy to canon. When asked about the romance prospects between two of Star Wars most popular new characters, she said “a romance between the stormtrooper and the ace pilot is definitely within the realm of possibility.”
However, if you think that means you’ll see Poe and Finn lock lips in The Last Jedi, you are going to be sadly disappointed. she went on to say:
“We’ve talked about it, but I think you’re not going to see it in The Last Jedi. After 40 years of adventures, people have a lot of information and a lot of theories about the path these stories can take, and sometimes those theories that come up are new ideas for us to listen to, read and pay attention to.”
In previous interviews, both John Boyega and Oscar Isaac have been asked about it and they seem pretty open to the idea.
John Boyega:
“As far as I’m concerned when JJ [Abrams] sat us down to go through the script, it was a bromance. But now I’m learning what Mark Hamill said before, when he didn’t know that Darth Vader was Luke’s father: ’You never know what they’re going to pull.’”
Oscar Isaac:
“I think there’s a very subtle relationship happening,” he told Ellen last year. “You have to watch the film a few times to see the little hints, but there was. At least I was playing romance… I won’t say with which character.”
