Movies about human tragedy can leave a lot of viewers cold, but a dramatic movie about the relationship between a human and a dog? There won’t be a dry eye in the house. Sure, there are exceptions, like when someone leaks edited footage to make it look like a dog was abused on set (Yup, the ‘A Dog’s Purpose’ allegations were proved to be bogus), but generally, they are pretty bullet proof. Hell, I still can’t watch Fluke without tearing up, and that wasn’t even that good a movie.
The film, ‘Megan Leavey’, is based on the true story of the real life Marine Corporal of the same name. She trained and partnered with a K-9 that was too aggressive for other soldiers to handle, completing over 100 missions together before she was injured by an IED and sent stateside. The film recounts their time together and her battle to get Rex the right to be adopted by her at the end of his service. Oh yes, you will feel many things when you watch this movie.
The true story of Marine Corporal Megan Leavey, who forms a powerful bond with an aggressive combat dog, Rex. While deployed in Iraq, the two complete more than 100 missions and save countless lives, until an IED explosion puts their faithfulness to the test.
