Michael Fassbender To Star In ‘Assassin’s Creed’

Not satisfied with being the lord of magnetism and a kick ass android, Michael Fassbender is signing up to play the most famous assassin in video game history. It is not news that there is an Assassin’s Creed movie in the works. We first reported on that almost six months ago. What is news is that the movie now has a co-producer and star in the form of Michael Fassbender.

Assassin’s Creed is a game about a man who is forced to go back into past lives where he has to work as an assassin to recover pieces of his genetic memory. The action in the games is pretty intense between the actual killing and the parkour style running. We aren’t sure which of the games that the story will pull from, but we are guessing it will probably by some sort of hybrid story to get whatever makes the best film.

This is an interesting gamble for Fassbender. While he has been able to carry the weight of a drama on his shoulders, his action films (Prometheus and X-Men: First Class) have all be ensemble pieces where he has other great actors helping him carry the weight. While there are other characters in the film, Assassin’s Creed will surely be primarily a Michael Fassbender movie.
