In a recent interview with Vulture, actress Milla Jovovich revealed that another “Resident Evil” sequel will happen. It only makes sense as “Resident Evil: Afterlife” made $73.2 million dollars in it’s opening weekend and topped the box office!

Here’s what Jovovich had to say:

This new ‘Resident Evil’ is the first one to ever open at No. 1 worldwide. It’s the biggest movie in the franchise, so we’re definitely going to make another one.

In addition, Jovovich adds that her husband, director Paul W.S. Anderson, already has ideas for the fifth installment, but would like to hear and field ideas from the fans.

“We’ve been talking to a lot of fans on Twitter and stuff, so it’s probably going to be one of the first movies where we really talk to fans to see what they want, and what characters they want to see. It’s going to be a more interactive process.”

Although I haven’t seen it, most of the people I know that have, were disappointed by it. The story just wasn’t as tight as the other films and the 3D was really its redeeming value. Barely. Hopefully now that Anderson is up for some fan input (because really, this is a fan film first), RE5 will be better and improve as a franchise moving forward. Rather than falling by the wayside and becoming gimmicky with the introduction of 3D.
