MTV Launches Spin-Off of Show Canceled Twice Prior

Variety is reporting that MTV is setting up a spin off of a TV show that has not just been canceled once, but twice. The original show “Greg the Bunny” has already had a couple iterations. The first home for the show was on Fox and starred Seth Green. The second version was on the IFC. Now, MTV is bringing back the character of Warren The Ape for his own show.

“Warren,” a brash, out-of-work actor who is trying to revive his Hollywood career after “Bunny” was canceled. Given a 12-episode order, series will be a mock celeb-reality show.

“We’re kind of making fun of ourselves a little bit at MTV,” said East Coast senior veep of series development Brent Haynes. The idea is that Warren “has fallen so far from grace, all he can get is an MTV reality show.”

The show was purchased off test footage, not a pilot, so what will actually happen is anyone’s guess. Will the third time be the charm for Greg The bunny?
