Alfonso Cuaron is moving forward with his new space survival film “Gravity,” proving that there is life after Angelina Jolie after all. Not a week after Jolie turned down the lead role in the 3D sci-fi thriller, Natalie Portman is reported to have been offered the lead female role.

While I would have preferred Jolie, Portman is an admirable replacement and would probably do just as well. If she accepts, she would co-star alongside Robert Downey Jr.

“Gravity” is about a female astronaut sent out to fix the Hubble telescope and ends up becoming the sole survivor after her transport is destroyed by space garbage stranding her in space. It will be about her fight and struggles to get back to earth.

“Gravity” has a budget of $80 million dollars, and filming for it will begin at the end of January in England.
