Deadline is reporting that Captain Hammer himself, Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Castle, The Rookie) has just joined the cast of James Gunn’s Suicide Squad over at Warner Bros. It’s not a major surprise to see Fillion’s name alongside Gunn’s. The two have worked together on multiple occasions including the film Slither, and Gunn’s old online project PG-Rated Porn.
There’s currently no word on who Fillion will be playing in the new film, but he has voiced the Green Lantern in several DC Animated films (we would bet money that he’s not GL). In the meantime, Fillion’s The Rookie is set to launch its second season on ABC, Sep, 29.
The unnamed Suicide Squad sequel goes into production on Sep 23 of this year and is set to hit theaters on Aug, 6, 2021. Along with Fillion, the movie stars Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian (Polka-Dot Man), Daniela Melchior (Ratcatcher), Flula Borg and Steve Agee (King Shark).
