Neil Gaiman’s Epic Fantasy ‘American Gods’ Film Adaptation Moving Forward

In an interview with Digital Spy, Neil Gaiman has confirmed that his “American Gods” is now set for development as a feature film.

No specific details have been announced, but Gaiman says that the rights for the project has just been sold and he will begin meeting with the new director about his own potential involvement in the project. As to who the director is? Gaiman only had this to say:

“There is one cinematographer and director on board,” he says, “who has many, many Oscars and is I think is a genius. I love the fact that he fell in love with this about six or seven years ago and has not given up and just kept coming back and coming back.”

Gaiman’s “American Gods” is a novel released in 2001 and tells the story of an ex-con and his navigation through a modern America secretly filled with mythological gods and monsters of ancient history.

Gaiman, who is no strange to other media, has seen his work adapted in Hollywood that includes his novels “Stardust” and “Coraline.” His recent book, “The Graveyard Book” is slated for a film version from Neil Jordan while a “Sandman” television series is in development.
