The other day we posted a story about how the new Fantastic Four film from Josh Trank is actually decent. Now, multiple sources are reporting the exact opposite. Both Bleeding Cool and Badass Digest are reporting that FOX is more than a little unhappy with the film.
It was just yesterday that Matthew Vaughn stood up for the film, saying: “I’ve seen the movie, it’s good. I thought Chronicle was a fantastic movie and [Josh] Trank has gone off and done his version of Fantastic Four. If you like Chronicle, then you’ll like this. We’re all backing Josh Trank’s vision. And hopefully the world will like Josh Trank’s vision.”
That said, word is that the studio heads are not happy because the film feels more like a sequel to Chronicle than a Fantastic Four movie. One exec told Bleeding Cool that the film is a mess and that there’s now some major disquiet about the film, resulting in a demand for severe re-shoots.
Badass Digest adds to the story with claims that they have heard about the re-shoots and they are geared towards adding a lot more action to the film, which is currently “very character driven.” They also said that the movie is all about origin and that they don’t really become the Fantastic Four until the end of the film.
