They outline so much of the plot in this trailer that I almost want to stick a spoiler warning on it. That said, it’s a solid trailer and it definitely gives you a sense of what to expect from the story. We always knew that Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man would feature in the movie as a sort of mentor to Peter Parker, now we are getting to see just how deep that goes. It even looks like Tony is applying some lessons that he’s learned along the way from his current best frenemy, Captain America. In the end, it looks like we are going to see the rise and fall and rise of Spider-Man as he comes to grips with his powers and responsibilities while also taking on a disgruntled former employee of Tony Stark in the way of Michael Keaton’s Vulture. And just to add a little extra MCU into the mix, the Vulture and his henchman Shocker’s weapons are made by The Tinkerer from bits and bobs that have been scavenged from the Invasion of New York.
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
