Let me get this out of the way before I go further. What an f’ing moron! I’m sorry. That wasn’t nice.

I was actually pretty happy to here that Peter Serafinowicz was cast to play the new Tick. Next to Patrick Warburton, I’m not sure I could think of anyone else who could pull it off. However, now we’ve got some new news from the showrunner of the new Amazon series and my studio BS meter is pinging like crazy.

Today, showrunner Ben Edlund told EW that this new version of The Tick will be “darker and more grounded. And it’s going to have a real story, a real hero’s myth. “

Apparently Ben Edlund has been to the BVS school of super heroes. It also makes a lot more sense now to know that the cinematographer for The Dark Knight, Wally Pfister, is set to direct.

If there’s one thing that The Tick does not need, it’s to become dark and gritty. It’s pretty much in defiance of the entire point of The Tick.

When the Tick premiers on Amazon Prime later this year, it will run for 10 half hour episodes, all released simultaneously.
