Alicia Vikander is hard at work as the new Lara Croft in the upcoming reboot of Tomb Raider and today we are getting a new look at the star in action as well as some new info about the movie’s plot. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Vikander revealed that the film will be forgoing the old plot of Croft coming from a billionaire family. Instead, we will first meet the character in London, where she lives an ordinary life and works an ordinary job. When she finds a clue about her her presumed-dead archaeologist father played by Dominic West, we will then see her kick into action.
Vikander also told EW that this is going to be sort of an origin tale for Croft.
“She has all the fierce, tough, curious, intelligent traits, but we’ve stripped away all of her experience. She hasn’t gone on an adventure just yet. She thought he was a stuck up businessperson living in the modern youth culture of suburban London, but then this whole box of information. This is the beginning.”
