Nick Cage is back for what he’s calling his self-proclaimed wildest movie of his career in Prisoners of the Ghostland and it looks like it’s pretty much a riff on Escape from New York. That’s not a bad thing, but it’s kind of an obvious thing within the first 20 seconds of the trailer.

In the new film, Cage plays a convict who is given the task of saving the daughter of a wealthy warlord from a dystopian wasteland. However, if he doesn’t complete the task in five days, his suit will explode…

Don’t get me wrong, it looks like it could be a lot of fun, but it also looks like it could be called Escape from Samurai Town. The Prisoners of The Ghostland will be in theaters, On Demand and Digital HD September 17.

Starring Nicolas Cage, Sofia Boutella, Bill Mosley, Nick Cassavetes, Tak Sakaaguchi Directed by Sion Soto In the treacherous frontier city of Samurai Town, a ruthless bank robber is sprung from jail by a wealthy warlord, The Governor, whose adopted granddaughter has run away. Strapped into a leather suit that will self-destruct within five days if he doesn’t find the missing girl, the bandit sets off on a journey to find the young woman — and his own path to redemption.
