In a move that surprises absolutely no one, The director who has created the most popular and critically acclaimed film in the DCEU has signed on to make the sequel. THR is reporting that negotiations were challenging, which essentially means that Jenkins knew they needed her to maintain credibility for the Wonder Woman franchise and was willing to hold out until they gave her what she wanted. In exchange, she will not only direct the new film, but will (and has already begun) co-write the script with Geoff Johns.
According to THR, the new deal will mean somewhere between 7-9 million dollars and a big chunk of the back end, which is not only a big step for women directors, but a massive step up from the $1 million she made on the first film.
Wonder Woman 2 is currently set for a December 13, 2019, but it is the DCEU, so things could easily change.
