‘Powerpuff Girls’ Live-Action Series In Development From Greg Berlanti, Diablo Cody

In a move that we are pretty sure no one was asking for, but now we’re all too curious not to want to know how it turns out, CWverse mastermind Greg Berlanti and Diablo Cody (Jennifer’s Body, Juno) are teaming up to bring the Cartoon Network classic cartoon, The Powerpuff girls, to life in a new live-action tv series.

According to the new report from Deadline, this new take on the story is going to give us a much different look at Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup than we’ve ever seen before.

When we join the girls in the new series, they are no longer kids, but grown women, in their twenties and they are not very happy. In the same way that childhood stars becomes trainwrecks in adulthood, the Powerpuff girls are not exactly the most well-adjusted people in town. When new evil forces start to threaten the world, they’ll have to put aside their differences and their own issues and come together again as a team.

Honestly, this sounds more like a Funny or Die sketch, or possibly a fanfic than an actual series, but Berlanti and Codi are not talents to be trifled with. If anyone can do it, they can. We just hope that Mojo Jojo comes back with them.
