I’m not really all that surprised to hear this. Given their records, I’d put my money on Ridley Scott right now over Neil Blomkamp too. Sure, Prometheus wasn’t the movie we all hoped it would be, but it was a hell of a lot better than pretty much anything that Blomkamp has put out since District 9.
If Blomkamp’s Alien 5 came out and tanked, it would probably kill the release for Prometheus 2, but if Prometheus 2 sucks, fans can shuffle it off onto the poorly conceived prequel shelf along with Star Wars Episodes 1, 2, and 3.
