variety is reporting on a new show that was just greenlit by the cable network, TNT. All I can say right now is that I’m confused by the show and am both curious and worried to see how it might actually come out.

The new show, Men of a Certain Age, is produced by Ray Romano, the star of Everybody Loves Raymond. The show is considered to be a character drama which is what makes the next part so weird. The three men starring in the show are: Ray Romano, Andre Braugher and Scott Bakula.

The show is focused on three fortysomething college buddies who are each coming to terms with a midlife that doesn’t live up to their previous expectations.

TNT has already placed a ten episode order.

Why is this so weird to me? Well, look at the cast. Ray Romano is not really known for being able to hold any dramatic roles down, and then you’ve got the star of quantum Leap and the best part of NBC’s old show Homicide: Life on The Street. Something about this grouping seems mighty hinky to me. Will Ray be the uncomfortable laughter to Braugher’s straight laced normal character or will they try to turn 3 good actors into something that none of them are just to balance each other out. Time will tell.
