THR is reporting that casting efforts have stepped up for The Batman from director Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson as the latest World’s Greatest Detective. The film, which rumors claim to be based off Batman: The Long Halloween has now reportedly brought in West World/ Hunger Games star, Jeffrey Wright to play none other than Commissioner James Gordon.
If the rumors are correct, the film will take place over the course of a year, as a young Batman tracks down a killer that bases his activities around the holidays. Along the way, Batman encounters several villains from his rogue’s gallery. It was previously reported that Rhianna might be being eyed as the new Catwoman and Collider is now reporting that Jonah Hill is in talks for the role of The Riddler.
If the Joker does make an appearance in this film, don’t count on it being the Joaquin Phoenix version. The Joker film is considered to be the cinematic equivalent of an Elseworlds story. That means it has no connection or bearing on any canon or continuity.
