Reports came in last night that Arnold Schwarzenegger wasn’t kidding when he said “I’ll be back!” He is currently shopping a package to studios that would breathe new life into the franchise after the last two unmitigated disasters. There’s not script or anything like that at this point, but there is a director attached, Justin Lin. If you aren’t used to hearing that name yet, you’ll be hearing it a lot more after Fast Five hits screens.
One interesting thing is that there’s a time limit on any new Terminator films. In 2018, the rights for the film revert back to their original creator, James Cameron. Now, there’s a solid chance that he’ll be too busy making another Fern Gully sequel to notice, but with all the money tied to the license, it’s a pretty safe bet that even Avatar part 17 won’t keep him that distracted.
