To say that the newest reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is dividing fans is an understatement. There’s a good chance that the Comic-Con trailer for the show is only going to make that divide even wider. Nickelodeon is gambling pretty heavily with a totally new design aesthetic that has many asking why there are frogs running around with turtle shells. Add to that a lack of classic bad guys like Shredder (now replaced by a new villain who is voiced by John Cena), and it has gotten pretty dicey.
We haven’t been blown away by the animation yet, but we aren’t going to have a true sense of the show until we give it the standard three-episode probationary period. That’ll start when Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles airs a sneak peek on this Friday night at 9:30 on Nick!
