It’s hard to believe that the first Top Gun movie came out over 30 years ago, but time flies and so does Tom Cruise’s Maverick. After all this time, the pilot has never stopped flying fighters and never managed to find his way up the ladder of military promotions.
The trailer for the film was released as a surprise bonus at the end of the Terminator: Dark Fate panel in Hall H (recap coming in the next post) and it seems like it’s a big hit with fans. Then again, showing Terminator fans a Top Gun trailer is kind of low hanging fruit.
The trailer doesn’t actually show that much, but it leans heavily on the practical effects of the film and Cruise’s insistence on doing as many of his own stunts as possible. The New film is directed by Tron: Legacy/ Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski with a script by Mission: Impossible – Fallout writer/director Christopher McQuarrie. Along with Cruise, the film will also star Val Kilmer who is returning as Ice Man, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris, Glen Powell, and Miles Teller as the now-adult son of Anthony Edwards‘ Goose. whose death was a major part of the original film,
