Marvel films weren’t the only big winners at today’s panel, the upcoming slate of Disney+ series all got some love, starting with the upcoming WandaVision series starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany. One of the big announcements for the show is that there’s another name being added to the cast in If Beale Street Could Talk‘s Teyonah Parris. She’ll be playing the grown version of Captain Marvel’s best friend’s daughter, Monica Rambeau. The interesting thing about that is, in the Comics, Monica Rambeau eventually becomes Captain Marvel after being bombarded with cosmic energy. It will be interesting to see if this happens during the series and is used to introduce her for later placement into an MCU film.
If it is, it won’t be for a long time, because the series isn’t set to hit Disney + until spring of 2021.
In talking about the series, Kevin Feige, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Bettany all leaned on how weird the show is going to be:
Kevin Feige:
If you thought that logo was strange, wait until you see this show. It’s unlike anything we’ve done before. I can’t tell you how exciting and different and strange that show is going to be.
Elizabeth Olsen:
It’s gonna get weird, we’re gonna go deep, we’re gonna have lots of surprises and we’re going to finally understand Wanda Maximoff as the Scarlett Witch.
Paul Bettany:
“I have no idea. Last thing I knew I died in Infinity War so I literally have never been this confused in front of this many people” … Every time we get to do this the stories get richer and richer and this is the richest of all… I hope you love it because this is going to be surprising and weird.
