All the people who felt cheated at the fake-out Mandarin in Iron Man 3 got a special treat at today’s Hall H Marvel presentation. It turns out that the real Mandarin is ready to stand up and he’ll be facing off with Shang-Chi in Shang Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings set to hit theaters on February 12, 2021.
Starring as Shang-Chi is Simu Liu with Tony Leung taking on the mantle of the real Mandarin. There’s no word on whether or not we’ll see Mandarin imposter Ben Kingsley make an appearance in the film, but it was announced during the panel that Awkwafina (Ocean’s Eight, Crazy Rich Asians) will also be joining the cast.
If you are in the US, there’s a good chance that you aren’t familiar with Simu, but he’s a great actor. You can check him out in the very funny Canadian Sitcom, Kim’s Convenience – available for streaming on Netflix in the US.
No story details were handed out, but it will be interesting to see if they keep to the hero’s comic book origin as a martial arts expert/ the son of the infamous villain, Fu-Manchu.
