The first full trailer for Skeleton Crew dropped today and a lot of die hard fans are upset that this is clearly a show for kids. Well, here’s the thing. Star Wars was made for kids. Don’t believe me? Ask Lucas. Yes, a lot of the stories and plot lines have matured over the last 47 years, but the franchise needs to cater to the kids if they are going to be around for another 47 years. With that said, just because it’s made for kids doesn’t mean it’s going to be bad. Just look at recent movie releases like The Wild Robot or even Transformers One.

At first glance, the new series has a lot of the same energy as films like The Goonies. You’ve got a team of kids who go on an adventure and get in way over their heads. The big difference here is that you’ve got Jude Law playing the scoundrel/ chaperone along the way.

Anyone who tells you this show is going to suck from the trailer is just basing that off of the last several Star Wars shows, which… let’s be honest, kind of sucked. However, they didn’t have Jom Watts of the MCU Spider-Man films behind the wheel. So, check out the trailer and then do what I do. Give the show a three episode probationary period when it drops on December 3. If it sucks, you’re out less than three hours. If it’s great, you have some awesome new Star Wars to watch.

Along with Jude law as Jod Na Nawood, Skeleton Crew also stars Ravi Cabot-Conyers as Wim, Kyriana Kratter as KB, Robert Timothy Smith as Neel, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong as Fern. Additionally, it has recently been announced that Nic Frost will be joining the cast as the voice the droid, SM 33.
