I really enjoyed Snowpiercer when it came out a couple years ago. It was one of the best movies in a long time that a lot of my friends still don’t seem to know exists. Now, the man who is working on the scripts for the Avatar sequels writing a new TV series adaptation of the film.
THR is reporting that the Bong Joon Ho film is heading for the small screen under the pen of Josh Friedman. Here’s what he had to say:
I’m a huge fan of director Bong’s films, especially Snowpiercer. It’s great the way the best sci-fi is great — thoughtful, political, funny, scary and sly. And it’s on a train. A big f—ing train. What more could you want?
Unlike Limitless, which takes place after the events of that film, we have to guess for various reasons that this film will probably deal with either the creation of the snowpiercer train or its early days.
In case you’ve never seen the Chris Evans/ Tilda Swinton film, here’s the synopsis and trailer:
In this sci-fi epic from director Bong Joon-Ho (The Host, Mother), a failed global-warming experiment kills off most life on the planet. The final survivors board the SNOWPIERCER, a train that travels around the globe via a perpetual-motion engine. When cryptic messages incite the passengers to revolt, the train thrusts full-throttle towards disaster.
