Sony must have a lot of faith in Tom Holland. Not is he the man being trusted with the Spider-Man franchise for the studio, but they’ve just placed him in the role of Nathan Drake for the upcoming adaption of ‘Uncharted.’
The announcement means that the script that was written by Joe Carnahan (The Grey) and was set to be directed by Shawn Levy (Stranger Things) has been thrown in the trash, in favor of a new direction that will be tailored around Holland and focus on the early years of Nathan Drake’s adventures.
The interesting thing here is that it means they are moving away from making an actual adaptation from the video game franchise that has millions of fans, in favor of just lifting the characters and telling an early-life prequel about them. As to whether fans of the game will want to go along for that journey, only time will tell.
