Fans are still divided on Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but pretty much everyone should be happy to hear about the direction of the next film in the series as described by John Boyega at his recent Awesomecon appearance. We know that the script is complete for the film, but it seems like the cast hasn’t had a chance to read it as of yet. Thankfully, there are some little bits of info thanks to Boyega.
One major complaint that people had about the last film was that there was almost no chance to further explore the great chemistry between Rey and Finn that had started to develop in The Force Awakens. To that, Boyega had this to say:
“I haven’t read the script for Episode 9. But Daisy did shoot me a text saying, ‘Oh my gosh, I just heard from J.J. [Abrams], and we’re back together.’ That’s what I’m really excited about, is Finn and Rey back together again.”
Another complaint about The Last Jedi is that it was just two ships chasing each other for 24 hours. According to Boyega, this time around we are looking at an “all-out war” between the resistance and the First Order.
Episode IX hits theaters on December 20, 2019.
