Today is the day that we finally get to watch the first episode of ‘What If…?’ and the press is out in force, but one article on THR has just dropped a bit of Star Wars news like it was just an afterthought. In the article, which is about the voice cast of the new MCU animated series on Disney+, they take some time to talk about how you don’t always have to use the same voice actor as you do for live-action. The example they use is the change from Ahsoka Tano’s animated voice, Ashley Eckstein, to her live-action representation The Mandalorian by Rosario Dawson. The article went on to then casually say this:

Now, Dawson is leading a live-action Ahsoka spinoff for Disney+, with sources saying Lucasfilm is looking for an actress to star opposite Dawson as Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren.

There’s been rumors and fan hopes of this ever since we heard that Ahsoka was making the jump to live-action. Now, with the added news that Aladdin star Mena Massoud has been tapped to play Ezra Bridger and Lars Mikkelsen has been brought in to reprise his role as Admiral Thrawn in the series, we are hoping that news of Sabine and possibly even a Hera casting are coming soon! It’s starting to look like the Ahsoka Tano series could be the live-action Star Wars Rebels sequel that many have been hoping for.
