As if there wasn’t enough to get excited about in the movie itself, it’s looking like Star Wars: The Last Jedi is also going to be a treasure trove for movie trailer fans. Along with being several fans’ first chance to see the Avengers: Infinity War trailer on a big screen, and the rumor that there may (but probably won’t be) a first trailer for the upcoming Han Solo film, we are now hearing reports that the film will also be accompanied by a new trailer for Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Ernest Cline’s ‘Ready Player One’.
What makes us think this is going to happen? Well, the Alberta ratings board has officially classified the trailer at two minutes and 44 seconds long. Classification is usually the final step before a trailer is released. Now, there is a good chance that it could get released this weekend, where it would get more attention than it would against the release of the franchise’s 8th film, but there’s a good chance that it will be making its debut just moments before the text crawl that fans have been waiting to see for the last 2 years.
From filmmaker Steven Spielberg comes the science fiction action adventure “Ready Player One,” based on Ernest Cline’s bestseller of the same name, which has become a worldwide phenomenon. The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday. When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger. Spielberg directed the film from a screenplay by Zak Penn and Ernest Cline.
