Star Wars The Next Generation Takes Over Vanity Fair

The new generation of Star Wars stories are going to be told on Disney+ for the foreseeable future and fans have a new hope that Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni can bring some magic back to the gallery. We’ve seen glimmers of it in The Mandalorian and the Mandalorian episodes of Boba Fett. We’ve also had a solid amount of magic teased with the casting of Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano. Later this month we will see if Obi-Wan Kenobi starring Ewen McGregor and Hayden Christensen (returning as Darth Vader) can live up to the expectations of fans. Now there’s also word that Andor, a series that not many people have arguably been asking for is set to bow sometime this summer.

To celebrate the promise and the potential, several of the new stars of Star Wars joined up for a big feature In Vanity Fair.

Along with all the pretty photos from Annie Liebowitz, Diego Luna gave a ton of new details about his upcoming adventure and return as the Rogue One character, Cassian Andor:

While talking to Vanity Fair, Luna referred to the new series as the “journey of a migrant.”

“That feeling of having to move is behind this story, very profoundly and very strong,” he said. “That shapes you as a person. It defines you in many ways, and what you are willing to do. The story of “Andor” will begin with the destruction of Cassian’s birth world, then “follows him into adulthood, when he realizes he can’t run forever.” The series will take place five years before the events of “Rogue One” (which ends with the deaths of all the main characters, including Andor), but this description implies it may start with a flashback to Andor as a child.”

The series will also give fans the opportunity to learn more about the classic Star Wars heroine Mon Mothma, originally played by Caroline Blakiston in “Return of the Jedi,” before a younger actress (Genevieve O’Reilly) played her in “Revenge of the Sith” and “Rogue One.” O’Reilly will get a full character arc in the new show. Additionally, the show will feature Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera. Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, Robert Emms, and David Hayman.
