It’s not that big a deal that there’s a gay character in the Star Wars universe, except that this is the first gay character in the Star Wars Universe. It’s just like how it wasn’t a big deal that Lando Calrissian, was the first black Star Wars character (other than Darth Vader), except for the fact that he was the first black character. What I’m saying is… fans don’t really care as long as the stories are strong, but the media loves a good angle.
