Legendary’s Detective Pikachu movie is gearing up and the casting is underway, but we still don’t know who will be voicing Pikachu (sadly, it will probably not be Danny DeVito). Syill, we do have some news for you about the upcoming film. It was just announced that Kathryn Newton, known mainly for her work on shows like Supernatural, Halt and Catch Fire, and Big Little Liars, has joined the cast as the female lead. This comes on two potentially break out roles in the newly released (and critically acclaimed films) Lady Bird and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
In the film, she’s slated to play Lucy, “a sassy journalist who goes on an adventure with the boy, played by Smith, and Pikachu, who will be a motion-capture creation for the movie.” Also, Lucy historically comes with her own Pokemon, a Psyduck. Newton joins the recently cast Justice Smith, who is on board as the male lead of the film.
