Netflix just dropped the first trailer for what I’m starting to think is the second chapter of a de-facto trilogy indicting the healthcare system in the US. The first film was 2020’s I Care A lot starring Rosmund Pike and Peter Dinklage that focused on the predatory abuse that can happen in the guardian area of healthcare (more recently highlighted by the new Britney Spears headlines). Now we have Sweet Girl, a film starring Jason Mamoa and Isabela Merced about a father who loses his wife and the mother of his child when a pharmacy company stops making the drug that could keep her alive due to profitability. He then takes up a personal mission to bring the people at the head of the company to justice for the death of his wife, but they aren’t going to go down without a fight… or at least without hiring people to fight for them.
Sweet Girl hits Netflix on August 20th.
A devastated husband (Jason Momoa) vows to bring justice to the people responsible for his wife’s death while protecting the only family he has left, his daughter (Isabela Merced).
