Sometime today, The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan’s final film in the Batman trilogy starring Christian Bale, will officially pass the $1 Billion Dollar landmark. Domestically, the film from Warner bros and Legendary Pictures has grossed $431.4 million. This is only the 11th film in the history of cinema to do this and it puts it just slightly ahead of The Dark Knight which earned $1.0003 billion worldwide (TDKR is currently at $1.010 Billion).
While this might seem like a massive number, rising boxoffice prices and massive releases are sure to help other films… like The Hobbit, join its ranks in the near future.
Also, as a point of reference, the other day, The Avengers passed the $1.5 billion dollar mark.
