On Friday, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is set to drop on Disney+, expanding the streamer’s small screen expansion of the MCU. Thanks to interviews in both Screenrant and EW, we are getting some new details about what the current status of Steve Roger’s Captain America is and how this new series connects to the ever-growing MCU.
In his interview with Screenrant, Kevin Feige was asked about what’s happening with Cap and if we’ll find out his fate in the new series. When we last left him, he was an old man, handing off his shield to Anthony Mackie’s Falcon and then heading off into the sunset. So… is he in Miami relaxing? Is he running missions? Is he chilling with Fury on the spaceship? When asked about his fate, Feige said that we’d find out “in a roundabout way” and that while while Steve being alive is a “fair presumption,” that’s “not necessarily the case.”
Meanwhile, showrunner Malcolm Spellman was asked if the new series connects to any other MCU properties and he told EW “I can think of three that I’m not allowed to talk about.” If we had to make a guess, they’d be Young Avengers, Thunderbolts, and possibly the Black Widow movie.
