Not that it wasn’t already obvious, but after smashing the box office last weekend Sony has decided to move forward with “The Karate Kid” sequel.
According to Deadline, Sony Pictures is taking pitches for the sequel after the reboot exceeded all expectations and became profitable when it topped the box office last weekend beating out “A-Team” and “Shrek Forever After.” It’s still too soon to know anything about the sequel, but if I had to guess I’d say it’d be in 3D with Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith returning to reprise their roles. Jackie Chan would again of course take second billing to the inexperienced Smith.
