Amazon Prime’s Lord of The Rings series has yet to shoot a single frame (production starts in the next couple of months in New Zealand) but it has already been renewed for a second season. Excitement is high for the new prequel series, but we barely know anything about it. It’s kind of like how everyone felt when the Star Wars prequels were announced, but before they came out in the theater. Well, today, we know one more thing about the series, Years & Years and Doctor Who actor, Maxim Baldry has been added to the show in what is being described as a key role.

The only thing we really know about the series is that it will take place during the 3,441-year period, known as the Age of Númenor, or the Second Age. That means we have no idea who Baldry will be playing. He could be anyone from a young Gandalf, to a young Sauron, or possibly a major character who was created just for the new series. With any luck, hopefully we’ll start to get some details about the show in Hall H at this year’s comic-con.
